SUMMARY:2024 Pollinator Plant Sale
DESCRIPTION:2024 Plant Sale\nThis year’s plant sale offers a selection of
native perennials that bloom from early to late summer and provide nectar
to native bees\, butterflies\, and other insects.\n\nNew this year! LLCT
will not be taking pre-orders. All purchases must be made in-person at t
he sale\, and plants will be available on a first come\, first served basi
 s. LLCT will accept cash\, check\, card\, or Venmo at the sale.\n\nMay 18
 th at Lincoln Station\, 145 Lincoln Rd\, Lincoln MA\n10:00-11:00 A.M. Memb
ers Only*\n11:00-1:00 P.M. General Public\n\n*Current LLCT members are inv
ited to the early bird hour. LLCT members participating in the sale can al
so choose a free groundcover plant to add to their order\, as a gift from
us to you. While supplies last. All are welcome to join or renew their me
mbership with LLCT when they check out at the sale. LLCT memberships star
 t at $35/year.\n\nPlants are sourced from Bagley Pond Perennials\, a NH b
ased nursery that grows their plants from seed sourced on their farm. All
plants are native to the region. Perennials will be available for $7 (quar
t sized plants). These plants retail for $10.50 each. LLCT works hard to e
nsure our prices are as accessible as possible to our community. Membershi
p contributions to LLCT support the plant sale and our planting efforts on
conservation land.\n\nLLCT is pleased to offer a selection of groundcover
plants this year that support pollinating insects and other wildlife spec
ies. These new offerings are in coordination with the Lincoln Common Grou
nd (LCG) No Mow May effort. LCG volunteers will be at the plant sale to an
swer questions and make recommendations about using groundcovers as lawn r
eplacements and garden understory plants.\n\n&nbsp\;\nView the list of ava
ilable plants here.\n&nbsp\;\n\nWhy plant native? Plants that are native
to Massachusetts repopulated the area after the last ice age (between 22\,
000-14\,000 years ago). These plants have had thousands of years to co-evo
lve and develop relationships with animals. By planting native plants\, we
support those ecosystem-level relationships and bolster local biodiversit
 y. Not only does this support wildlife\, it also improves local resilience
to the impacts of climate change.\n\nAll plants will be sold individually
this year. Volunteers will be at the plant sale to answer questions and a
ssist customers with their selection. Plants will be organized by bloom ti
me and labelled with sun/soil preferences\, bloom color\, and height. You
can choose plants that will thrive best in your site’s unique conditions
.\n\nIn general\, LLCT recommends selecting species from each bloom time (
early\, mid\, and late summer) to ensure a garden that offers nectar throu
ghout the growing season. If your garden space and budget allow\, LLCT rec
ommends planting at least 3 plants per species you select.\n\nLLCT’s Pol
linator Action Plan is informed by the research of Dr. Rob Gegear. LLCT co
ntinues to recommend Dr. Gegear’s plant list as a resource for pollen an
d nectar plants that support at-risk long-tongued bees.\n\nLLCT has plenty
of Pollinator Pathway Signs\, which will be available at the sale.
