SUMMARY:LLCT Movie Night: Hometown Habitat
DESCRIPTION:Free. All are welcome. Movie refreshments provided. This movie
is part of a series of programs in 2020 kicking off a Lincoln Pollinator A
ction Plan initiative. Award winning director\, Catherine Zimmerman\, trav
eled across the country to visit Hometown Habitat heroes\, who are reversi
ng detrimental impacts on the land and in the water of major U.S. watershe
ds\, one garden at a time. They share success stories and works-in-progres
s that celebrate conservation landscaping that re-awakens and redefines ou
r relationship with Nature. The stories illustrate the benefits of native
plants and brings to light a sense of community that makes conservation la
ndscaping possible. Renowned entomologist\, author (Bringing Nature Home)\
, and environmental activist\, Dr. Douglas Tallamy\, provides the narrativ
e thread.\n\nSave Pollinators. Save Water. Save the Earth. Build an army o

\n\nThe Lincoln Pollinator Action Plan: “Planting the Way for Biodiversi
ty and Climate Resilience” is a project developed by the Lincoln Land Co
nservation Trust in partnership with Evan Abramson of LandscapeInteraction
s and Dr. Robert Gegear\, a professor of biology at UMASS Dartmouth. We pr
opose to create a roadmap for biodiversity and climate resilience across t
he Town of Lincoln by rebuilding functionally diverse native ecosystems\,
through site-specific planting palettes and pollinator habitat designs tha
t are based on scientific study. By incorporating multiple Case Study site
s representing a wide array of land uses\, landscape scenarios\, ecologica
l habitats\, and aesthetics\, Native Plant and Pollinator Toolkits will be
developed that can be applied to sites across town\, including on conserv
ation\, public\, and private land\, and beyond! Everyone is encouraged to
participate along the way by helping to build a pollinator corridor across
the town of Lincoln and through citizen science action. Find out more at:
