SUMMARY:Fern Walk at Stony Brook South
DESCRIPTION:Ellen and Jim Meadors will lead a 1-2 mile walk where particip

n Lincoln. Most are common\, but a few uncommon ones will be seen as well.
Fern identification is fun to do in New England! There are a manageable n
umber of common ferns to learn\, which participants will be able to do by
the end of this walk.\nFree. All are welcome.\n\nIn case of inclement weat
her\, call the LLCT's general line at 781-259-9251 after 9AM the morning o
f the walk for direction.\n\nParking: Park and meet in the turnout on Rte.
117 on the Weston town line. (View map.)\n\nEllen and Jim are both fern e
nthusiasts and count fern species on almost every walk or hike they take.
Ellen was taught to identify ferns by her father when she was a child. She
taught Jim and they have both improved their skills over the years by tak
ing classes at the New England Wild Flower Society and studying field guid
es. They have seven species of ferns growing in their yard.
