Norman Levey, Lincoln resident and local naturalist, will lead this special walk. Norm sighted woodcocks at Baker Bridge Fields, North earlier this week and we are hoping to witness the “Sky Dance,” which is a spectacular courtship display performed by the male woodcock. Woodcocks migrate from southern states and some will stay in Lincoln until fall, while others will continue further north.

The courtship display occurs shortly after sunset when the air is clear, calm and warm, which we are hoping will be Friday evening. Additionally, listen for spring peepers and other early sounds of spring while in the fields.

Free. Open to all. (Not recommended for young children. No dogs, please.)

Park and meet in the dirt lot at The Food Project off of Rt. 126.

Choose appropriate clothing for weather and footwear for wet ground conditions. Please bring binoculars, if you have them!
