Explore the hidden treasures of our forests — vernal pools! In these important wildlife habitats you will find salamander larvae, frog tadpoles, fairy shrimp, beetles, bugs, and much more! Join LLCT and The Walden Woods Project as we explore a large vernal pool and the surrounding woods with Matt Burne, Conservation Director for The Walden Woods Project and co-author of A Field Guide to the Animals of Vernal Pools.

Free. Family-friendly (7+ recommended). All are welcome. Dress for weather conditions and wear sturdy shoes that will keep your feet warm and dry.

Park and meet in the commuter lot beyond Donelan’s Supermarket at Lincoln Station, 145 Lincoln Road, Lincoln.

About Matt Burne

Matt holds a Master of Science degree in Wildlife Ecology from UMass-Amherst and is a former Reading High School biology teacher. Prior to teaching, he was an ecologist with the Mass. Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, expert in vernal pool habitat and wildlife. Matt is responsible for the planning and execution of The Walden Woods Project’s conservation mission, and makes significant contributions to the organization’s educational programming.
