The Scarecrow Classic 5K is celebrating its 8th year running! This wonderful community event benefits Lincoln Land Conservation Trust, supporting our land conservation and stewardship mission, as well as our educational programming.
This year, the Scarecrow Classic will look a little different. Our highest priority is the safety of the community. Therefore, we are offering two ways to participate in the 2020 Scarecrow Classic 5K.
On Sunday, October 18th, 2020, we will offer a limited in-person race, with social distancing strictly enforced. Runners and walkers will sign up for a start time and run or walk the course in a small cohort. There will be no party afterwards.
In the week leading up to October 18th, (October 11-18) we will also offer a virtual race option. We’ll mail participants their Scarecrow Classic Shirt and they can run anywhere and anytime! Virtual participants can submit their unofficial times and encouraged to share photos of their run on social media. To avoid congestion on the trails and road safety concerns, participants are discouraged from running the “traditional” race route, and instead can explore other trails and roadside paths in town or beyond.
Please note that if public safety recommendations change, we may pivot to a totally virtual race for all participants at short notice. In-person participant registrations will automatically transfer to the virtual race.
A big shout out as well to our community sponsors. Their support helps make this race, and LLCT’s mission a success! Check out our 2019 and 2020 sponsors, and when you patronize them, let them know you heard about them through us!
