Ellen and Jim Meadors will lead a 1-2 mile fern walk. We will take a fairly slow pace, stopping frequently to look at different plant specimens. Participants will leave with the basic fern ID terminology and the tools to ID ferns on their own.
This is a free program, but space is limited. Please register to reserve your spot.
Walk location, parking details, and weather updates will be emailed to participants. We will mostly stay on the trail, but please bring water, sun protection, tick protection, etc. No dogs.
Ellen and Jim are both fern enthusiasts and count fern species on almost every walk or hike they take. Ellen was taught to identify ferns by her father when she was a child. She taught Jim and they have both improved their skills over the years by taking classes at the Native Plant Trust and studying field guides. They have seven species of ferns growing in their yard.
