Sudbury River Program Covers Climate Change and Pollution

Alison Field-Juma, Executive Director at OARS gave a wonderful presentation on November 7th via Zoom. After giving some background on the history of the three rivers (Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord), she led participants through the “report card” process that OARS uses to evaluate river health. The report card considers water quality, as well as ecological quality and broader recreational and economic metrics. She also addressed concerns about the effect climate change will have on the watershed, and stressed the importance of water conservation and protection of watershed lands to help mitigate these effects.

A new report card on the Sudbury River will be published in December 2021.

For those who missed the program, a recording is available online here.
