Welcome Summer Intern Ella

In early June, LLCT welcomed a summer intern, Ella Houlihan, to our team. Ella is a resident of Sudbury and is a rising senior at Middlebury College majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Architecture and Spanish.

This summer Ella will be helping LLCT and the Town maintain our incredible trail network. With more than 80 miles of trails in Town, there’s a lot of ground to cover! Ella will be conducting routine maintenance as well as assisting with more extensive trail improvement projects.

Ella will also be furthering LLCT’s land management goals, including invasive plant removal. As part of this work, our stewardship team has prioritized areas where plant removal will have the most impact, particularly at the perimeters of infiltrated locations. Big offenders include garlic mustard, wall lettuce, bittersweet, burning bush, buckthorn, lesser celandine, and water chestnut.

On her first day in the field, Ella helped install a new pollinator garden at Lincoln Station as part of the LLCT Pollinator Action Plan. Throughout the summer, Ella will be supporting this new pollinator habitat by maintaining the space. She will also be prepping and maintaining new and existing pollinator spaces on conservation land.
